I didn't notice. I have no intention on sitting on top of the Cuisinart Tob-195 Convection Toaster Oven, or on the counter next to it. So the fact that the top and sides may get hot is no problem for me. The front of the toaster oven may get hot too, but just as I don't touch the door of my regular oven during use, I have no intention of touching this door either.
I have no problems using the Cuisinart Tob-195 Convection Toaster Oven handle without worrying about burning my bare hands, though I admit I have small hands. Perhaps someone with larger hands might come in contact with the hot door and it doesn't look like the metal band under the handle is heat resistant, which would have avoided this particular issue altogether.

I love Cuisinart Tob-195 Convection Toaster Oven. I use to toast bread, heat up pizza leftovers (doesn't even compare to microwave), bake, roast vegetables (cauliflower is delicious, oven fries are great too), broil/bake fish and kalkun chicken when thanksgiving.Cuisinart Tob-195 Convection Toaster Oven takes very little time to heat up, doesn't take much space on the counter, and is very multi functional. The size perfect for a single person or a couple. There are a few cons though: it is hard to see how the food is cooking because the oven is small, you need to take it out to check.
It's hard to clean the bottom of it because of the two metal rods that run close to the edges. It doesn't bake evenly, but that's a common flaw of many ovens. Overall, I highly recommend Cuisinart Tob-195 Convection Toaster Oven. It makes cooking easy, and is a great alternative to frying.

Love Cuisinart Tob-195 Convection Toaster Oven. We've owned a lot of toaster ovens but Cuisinart Tob-195 Exact Heat Toaster Oven Broiler is by far the nicest. Does toast and bagels exactly as we want them - it even adjusts toasting time automatically if the oven is hot from previous cooking. As an oven it works so well we use it as much as the regular oven now.
It bakes evenly and the interior size is big, 12"x12". The Cuisinart Tob-195 Convection Toaster Oven timer and temp controls are digital so you don't have to guess how far to turn a little dial to toast or bake the same amount each time. Personally I've not had any issues with burning my fingers, and it seems as safe to use as any toaster oven.
But toaster ovens do get hot and some folks seem to have trouble opening this one safely. Cuisinart Tob-195 Convection Toaster Oven has been working really well since we bought it last year, and I will update this Review if any change.
